6.8 Earthquake hits Negros, Cebu, Visayas Region, February 6

Note: This is a developing story.

Online world is on a buzz over the reported 6.8 Earthquake that hit Cebu a few minutes ago, which lasted for 15 to 25 seconds.

According to U.S. Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center, the magnitude 6.8 quake hit Negros and Cebu Region with the ff. details:

70 km (44 miles) N (355°) from Dumaguete, Negros, Philippines
79 km (49 miles) WNW (298°) from Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines
80 km (50 miles) SSE (158°) from Bacolod, Negros, Philippines
574 km (356 miles) SSE (154°) from MANILA, Philippines

@CebuDailyNews tweeted, “6.8 magnitude earthquake hits Cebu, Bohol and Negros. USGS said epicenter is between Negros and Cebu.”

    we also felt it here in panglao, bohol. before the earthquake, the sea was so calm, but after that quake, it started to form waves.

    I was just talking online with my boyfriend who is a nursing student in Cebu City when the earthquake occured. He says his family in Anda felt the quake too. He doesn’t seem frightened, but he is very strong.

    a few hours after d quake,,,people began to shout tsunami and we were in the street that time….saw people and vehicles running toward us and we were sooooooooooo scared!!!

    malls were closed after the quake in bacolod.   public schools had their students go homefor the day.
