Young, who was hailed from Olongapo City bested 24 other ladies from different parts of the Philippines as the new lady of beauty, heart and purpose to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Miss World pageant in Indonesia this coming September.

The 23 year-old beauty also garnered the most number of special awards in the competition. Spectators believe she has always been a front-runner for her wit, beauty and brain but it was only after nailing the Question and Answer portion she has secured the top award.

Asked “Why do you want to be Miss World Philippines?,” the same question asked to the Top 5 finalists, Young answered, “Miss World Philippines is selfless and to be selfless, you need to have a heart. If I win Miss World Philippines, I would give myself wholeheartedly to be of service. Beauty with a heart.”

Palaweña beauty Janicel Lubina was Young’s biggest threat in the competition. Like the Miss World Philippines 2013 grand winner, Lubina has everything a beauty queen should possess: beauty, brain, heart and the will to make things happen. Lubina finished first runner-up with her answer, “Because I would like to unite physical beauty and a message of hope, perseverance to the world, knowing people can relate to my humble beginnings, that poverty is not a hindrance… that’s the essence of Miss World: beauty with a purpose, beauty with giving.”

Young was a reality-TV show “Starstruck” alumnae while Lubina carries with her various beauty titles, which includes Mutya ng Palawan 2012 and Miss Bikini Philippines 2013.

For the Miss World Philippines 2013 competition, she managed to snatched the Best in Swimwear award, Miss Photogenic, and Miss World Traveller.

Second runner-up is Zahra Saldua who answered, “When I was 10 years old, I told myself parents I wanted to be part of the United Nations. I want to be an Ambassadress of Goodwill. Whether I win or not, I want to continue with my charitable work and I hope you give me that chance.”

A former runner-up of Miss World Philippines, Maria Paula Bianca Paz finished at fourth (Third Princess). Paz answered the question: “I’ve been through many challenges. I can’t think of a better venue to inspire people other than Miss World.”

Fourth Princess winner is Omarie Linn Osuna who said, “I am ready. I have what it takes: beautiful face and body, strong heart willing to serve other. I can bring home the Miss World crown.”
