LESS THAN AN HOUR before the start of the Miss World 2013 coronation night, Philippines’ Megan Young posted on Facebook her gratitude to her family and supporters and offers them “whatever happens” tonight.
The 23-year old actress who remains the top favorite to win the blue crown posted on the official Facebook page of Miss World – Philippines three photos just a few moments ago that are captioned with sincere thoughts about her last and final battle tonight, September 27.
Young’s first post was a photo of her grandmother, Paula, who despite her old age did not hesitate wearing a very beautiful smile for her grand daughter who is miles away from her, giving pride not only to the family but to the whole Filipino nation.
Grandma Paula is wearing a shirt that reads, “Megan Young – Philippines – Miss World 2013” with an cartoon image of her wearing the crown.
Young said, “This is my grandmother, Lola Paula. Lola is the filipino word for grand mama (smiley) she may not be here in Bali to watch with the rest of the family, but she is ready to cheer all the way in the Philippines! I wanted to cry and hug her as soon as I saw this photo because I didn’t get to see her before I left for Indonesia. This is for you, Lola!”
Her grandmother is currently in the Philippines and is among the million excited Filipinos who are now having goosebumps in anticipation of the event. (Yes, that includes this writer).
A few minutes later she posted another photo with her mom and dad, and sister Lauren who is also an actress, and brother Victor.
“This is my family. This was for a charity event back in Zambales in the Philippines. My younger brother and sister may be crazy at times but when it comes to supporting each other, I know they are always behind me. My parents will always be there no matter what. I know that most of the time they aren’t there physically but I know that they are right there every step of the way. Without the four of them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Without the love, fights, hugs, misunderstandings, victories and mistakes made, I wouldn’t be here without them. They are my strength and my weakness. I love you Mama, Papa, Victor and Lauren!”
Lastly, Young posted a photo of her watching the sunset, on her left chest is a pin with the word, “Philippines” to which she captioned: “Tonight is the night. I am so overwhelmed by the support I have been receiving. THANK YOU for joining me every step of the way. I’m happy I was able to inspire many people in this journey… Whatever happens, I hope I made a positive impact on your lives! Cheers! For the Philippines and for the WORLD!”
That was so sweet of her. She really deserves the crown.
Can you feel it? Indeed, tonight is the night. Behind Megan are the millions of Filipinos cheering for her as she owns the night and bag the first ever Miss World crown for the Philippines.
